It took me a lot of time to get my degree, and I have it on the wall to show others and myself that I was committed to something at one time.

I can’t say that there have been many accomplishments since that point, since my life has been mostly consumed by my work.  Being a dentist takes up a lot of time, and since there is a shortage in our town, I find myself at work more than I am at home.  I am thankful that I don’t have any kids yet as I would not have enough time to be a good father.

But, that college diploma frame reminds me of a simpler time and the one good thing that I did in my life.  Sure, if someone asks about it, I would share the story about it, but sometimes just sitting here at my desk at home, looking at the diploma, I feel a sense of inner peace.  To this day I am still amazed that the diploma on the wall is mine.

I guess that I don’t really see graduating from high school is such a major accomplishment.  To me, high school was the pretty easy and graduating was more of inevitability than an accomplishment. Now, graduating from college was much more of an accomplishment to me, as I was studying to get a degree while holding down a full time job. This took a great deal of sacrifice for me and my family.  

 

I think that diploma framing is a perfect way to honor an accomplishment like this.  I guess that putting the diploma in some type of special album would just as suffice, but I do enjoy walking by mine and being reminded that it has been completed and in a way it also helps me to remember that I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to. Many people buy specialized a college diploma frame.  What you learn and experience in college should become a part of your life, but physically seeing the diploma is a reminder of the hard work and time that was put into the process.
