First RI Home to Get LEED Certification

There is a home that has recently been constructed in Rhode Island which is of major interest to anyone who is fond of green building. This home is the first home in the state to get LEED certification for homes. The association of the home with LEED standards is proof that this home is truly a green home.
The home is the project of a family named the Hageman’s. This project is not just important because the home is a green home. It is also important because the goal of this home was to remain low-waste while also being high-tech. There are plenty of homes out there that are green but there are much fewer that can claim that they are also forward-thinking in their technology.
One example of how high-tech this home is can be seen when reviewing its home-automation system. This system uses a touchscreen to control various appliances and electronics throughout the house. The system also serves the dual purpose of allowing the family to control light and energy waste in the home.
This is a cool example of the kind of house that we are likely to see more of in the future. People want to go green. They just don’t want to have to go lo-tech to do it.
